Browning ProSteel Gun Safe Warranty
Thieves will attempt to pound, drill, cut, hack, pry and torch their way into your safe. Flames will lick at a safe’s walls until the steel is hot enough to peel the finish and warp the body. All the while the contents within the safe remain protected. Should the unthinkable happen, you’ll be glad you chose a Browning ProSteel safe for protection from attack and fire, and the warranty that covers the damage to your safe from both. Every safe manufacturer offers a warranty, but like the safes they manufacture, the warranties are not the same. The warranty on a Browning ProSteel safe is on par with the best in the industry.

Browning Safes FAQs
Our customers frequently ask us questions related to locks, installation and troubleshooting.
General FAQs
What is the hole on the top of my Browning safe for?
Answer: It is used by the manufacturer during the painting process to suspend the safe.
Can I drill holes in the safe?
Answer: Yes. You can drill holes in the floor of the safe to mount it to the floor. The floors of new safes come pre-drilled from the factory. These holes are used to mount the safes with lag bolts to the pallets when they are shipped from the factory. You can also drill holes in the back of the safe to mount it to the wall, but you must re-seal the holes in the back wall of a fire safe with a fire-resistant silicone sealant or the fire resistance of the safe will be compromised. ALWAYS refer to the owners manual for additional information.
The handle on my safe is free spinning. What happened?
Answer: This almost always occurs because the shear pin has broken, which it is supposed to do when approximately 150 lbs. of pressure is applied. You can contact the safe department at (800) 926-5573 and they will send you a new shear pin. If the safe is locked, the safe department can e-mail or fax instructions on how to open the safe.
Whom should I contact in the event my safe has been involved in a fire, attempted break in, or successful break in?
Answer: These scenarios may fall under a warranty issue, depending on the date of manufacture. Please contact Tyler Jex at Browning’s safe manufacturer, ProSteel, to discuss the situation and discover if your safe falls under the proper warranty dates. 1-877-501-7233 Ext 14.
FAQs on Locks
Will changing to an electronic lock void my lock warranty?
Answer: No. As long as the serial number that is shipped with the retro fit lock is called in and recorded and tied to the serial number on your safe, the 5 year lock warranty will be valid. It MUST be recorded with Prosteel . A sales receipt for the retro fit lock must also be retained and presented to ProSteel for any warranty work provided. 1-877-501-7233 Ext 14.
If the battery on my safe’s electronic lock dies will it erase my combination?
Answer: No. The lock contains ‘non-volatile memory’ and the combination will never be lost with a dead battery. The lock uses a 9 volt battery, and should be replaced with a fresh Duracell.
Can I change the combination on my safe’s dial lock?
Answer: Yes. However, it is recommended that a certified lock smith change the combination on a DIAL LOCK. Caution: If the combination is changed on a lock that is less than 5 years old, this will void the 5 year lock warranty.
My gun safe with an S&G lock won’t open, help!
Answer: In many cases the S&G safe lock trouble-shooting website provides the information that will help get your safe open.
On my safe what is the purpose of the key-locking dial? What if I lose my keys?
Answer:
The key-locking dial on many safe models merely locks the dial and keeps the dial from turning so the safe bolts won’t lock. It does not lock the door. If you lose the keys to your key-locking dial, please contact us at (800) 926-5573. You must have the serial number to your safe. It is found on the back of the safe, upper right-hand corner. You will need to buy the current cylinder with keys for $24.50 and we will supply instructions to drill out the old one (it is a simple process).
